Cape Advanced Engineering (Pty) Ltd
Dr Taylor specialises in alternative fuels and power machinery, particularly engines for electric power generation. His expertise is in technologies to transform bio-mass into fuel/energy, and producing natural fertiliser as by-product. Andrew is MD: Cape Advanced Engineering, set up in 1993 as an automotive test unit at Stellenbosch University; privatised in 1999. CAE traditionally provided R&D, design, prototyping and testing services to the auto industry. Andrew led CAE’s involvement in locally manufactured automotive products – the Ford RoCam engine for the Bantam/Fiesta models, with over 1.5million units exported; the fuel-injected VW Citi Golf, Golf and Jetta; and the VW Vivo and Polo engine. From developing gas-fuelled engines, CAE extended operations to develop bio-gas power generation plants. Since 2008 CAE designed and built agricultural application bio-digesters for power generation. Andrew has a PhD(Mech) – Natal University.
