Hasna Khan conceptualized SHS micro-financing program that initiated solar activities that formed Grameen Shakti in 1996. As consultants to the World Bank, her team developed institutional, technical, and business model for Micro-Financing SHS for rural homes in Bangladesh. Her team designed and installed the first 100 kW solar mini of Bangladesh with DSM for a micro utility operational since 2010 and providing clean energy training. Her past work in micro-enterprise development for women in renewable energy technology applications has achieved Ashden award. Her recent activities include transformative technologies for rural electrification in India.
Hasna Khan is CEO of Energy Systems, director of Prokaushali Sangsad Ltd. (PSL), with experience in innovative renewable energy and rural energy access. Before joining PSL, she worked at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, and a faculty of Mechanical Engineering at U of MD. She holds MS and Ph.D. degrees in Nuclear Engineering, from University of Washington, Seattle.
