Waltaji Terfa Kutane is a public health and environment program coordinator of World Health Organization Ethiopia Country office, since May 2008 he is responsiblecfor water, sanitation, climate change and health, indoor air pollution and emergency response in conflict areas and disease outbreak.
He is closely working with health, water, environment and energy sectors in capacity building, policy, strategy and guidelines development and implementation. He has contributed to the development of WHO household air pollution guidelines as member of steering committee.
He holds a Master`s degree in Human Ecology and BSc in Environmental Health and has over 20 years of experience in the public health and environment sectors. He is a public health and environmental health specialist by profession and was initially employed by ministry of health in 1989 and assigned as environmental health inspector to Gambella administrative region health department. He was appointed in 1998 as environmental health and hygiene team leader in the same department responsible for implementation of integrated environmental health activities. In 2002 he joined UNICEF as consultant for public health emergency response.
